BIOGRAPHICAL CHRONOLOGY

1967: Born in Lahore, Pakistan to British parents (Both teachers: Father – literature, Mother – music)

1969 – 1985: Raised in Chester, UK
Study dance, music, theater and art. Royal Academy of Dance and Royal Schools of Music grade level examinations. Participate in student, community and regional productions.

1980 – 1981: Live in Chico, CA USA
Continue studies in the arts, music and dance.

1985 – 1989: Move to London, UK
Study at the Laban Center for Movement and Dance and the London Studio Center for Performing Arts.

1990 – 1992: Begin professional career in USA and Europe
Unto These Hills outdoor drama - Cherokee Indian Reservation, NC. New Rio Club - Halkida, Greece.

1992 – 2002: Move to USA. Based in Knoxville TN and Asheville NC
Co-Director of Circle Modern Dance, Choreographer for the Knoxville Opera Company, company member of Asheville Contemporary Dance Theater, independent dance teacher and choreographer.

2002 – 2007: Move to New York City
Co-establish H&H Production studio in South Bronx, found Cilla Vee Movement Projects, develop new movement method – Motion Sculpture, serve apprenticeship with the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation, Performance Curator for Haven Arts gallery in South Bronx. Numerous productions, performances, collaborations, festivals and tours. Begin to create installations and video art.

2007: Return to Asheville NC
Change company name to Cilla Vee Life Arts. Continue to produce, perform, collaborate, teach, choreograph and tour. Continue to develop installations and video. Return to music studies and performance in Cello and Voice.

2013 – 2015: Establish in Marshall NC
Co-found and co-direct the arts organization The Mission for Temporal Arts.

2014 – 2016: Graduate School
MFA in Creative Practice with the Transart Institute for Creative Research (accredited by Plymouth University, UK) Develop pedagogy for performance art – Living Art method.




INTRODUCTION

The following pages comprise a full account of my professional career. They are divided into thirteen categories (some of which are sub-divided and overlap).
As the work is inter-disciplinary and mostly collaborative, where necessary I have included the particulars of my own roles (in italics and parenthesis) as well as of my collaborators. This is for the purpose of clarity – to give detailed information about my artistic work experience as well as to give due credit to and information about with whom I have worked.
